OUR STORY The Smiths Falls Church was conceived by a few local believers who felt strongly that the presence of a Seventh-day Adventist Church was of importance in the community. Consequently, a small parcel of land was purchased just outside the town limits and plans were laid to construct a church edifice. In the year 2003 serious work began on the construction of a modest church building. A church building that would provide for an expanded congregation as well as providing fiscal facilities to accommodate youth and children’s programs. Of course, the facility must also provide for the physical needs of the congregation with the provision of a kitchenette. In this way, it was envisaged that the spiritual needs as well as the physical could be met. Although the number of members was small, actual work on the church began with a hand full of workers, some were paid but many volunteered their time to a worthy cause. As construction work progressed, friends of the Church stepped in to provide financial and material assistance to the small excited and determined group of believers. As a result, numerous donations poured in. Unrelated and member organizations provided cash donations and physical items such as the church pews and a security alarm system. Visitors, also sensing the need, donated cash to complete specific internal building facilities as well providing various furnishings. A friend donated additional land while others contributed cash and other fixtures such as musical instruments, cabinets etc. to fulfill the operating needs of the church. Through the blessings of God, and to the delight of the congregation, the Church opened its doors in July 2004.
