Dr. Bates was born and raised in the Quinte area. She completed a BScH at the University of Waterloo, then spent several years living in Spain. She returned to Canada to complete a BA in speech sciences at the University of British Columbia, then spent several years living in Japan, lecturing at the University of Okinawa. Her exposure to other cultures and their concepts of health brought her back to pursue a rewarding career in Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Bates is a graduate of the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in British Columbia. She is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor under the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy - Naturopathy (BDDT-N) in Ontario. Dr. Bates holds professional memberships to the OAND and CAND. She was previously licensed by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia (CNPBC). In addition, Dr. Bates is a certified Bowenwork® practitioner. An initial visit with Dr. Bates typically lasts 90 minutes. She will take an in-depth patient history in order to fully understand you and your unique health concerns. This time is also spent listening and looking for how your body expresses imbalances. Your initial visit will include a physical exam followed by individualized treatment planning. Treatment methods include nutritional counselling, nutritional supplementation, botanical medicine, traditional chiniese medicine, physical manipulation, bowen therapy and biopuncture.
