Inuusiliriji Counselling & Consulting

Melanie Stubbing was born and raised in Iqaluit, Nunavut, which is where she has spent the majority of her adult life. She holds an honours Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Counselling from the University of Ottawa. She currently resides in Iqaluit and frequently travels to southern Canada to participate in professional development and training opportunities. This is part of her commitment to provide up-to-date, ‘best practice’ counselling and psychological services to Nunavummiut. Her commitment to providing quality care also includes paying careful attention in each counselling moment and building upon every individual’s (and couple's) strengths, values and unique personal and cultural identities. Melanie believes that every one of us seeks to live a meaningful life. She also believes that, at some point in our lives, we all need help to get back on track. There are many obstacles (both from within ourselves and from our environment) that can make us feel stuck, scared, frustrated or helpless. It is her goal to provide you with a safe, trusting and compassionate counselling environment, and to use her knowledge, education and skills to help you with the changes you wish to make. She makes every effort to listen carefully and deeply understand your personal story: thoughts, feelings and experiences. In doing so, it is her hope that she will be able to provide a space where you feel safe, heard and important, and where you will be able to explore the areas of your life that you feel need attention.
