FIT by Tammy

My Story 20 years ago, in my early 20’s, a tiny little thing at 97lbs at 5foot 0, I met a personal trainer, who first became my boyfriend. I always had an interest in training but never knew where to start, nor did I really think I needed to since I was so light. He trained me in a body building style as that is all he knew, and I loved it. I had dreams of doing a fitness competition one day and becoming a personal trainer myself but I didn’t get there. My relationship with him fell apart and I met my husband. I continued to train but off and on over the years, between babies and owning my own business but eventually I had stopped all together. The babies caused the weight gain as it often does. It was on the eve of my 39th birthday that I yet again stood on that scale for the umpteenth time and realized the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. That scale was never going to change until I did. Even worse, I found I could no longer squat down to the ground and get back up without something to pull myself up with. 40 was one year away, I decided that day I was not turning 40 being out of shape and overweight. 6 months into a gym program I hired a personal trainer that I still use today, which taught me a different style of training. 1 year later with yet another trainer, I entered my first ever Figure competition and weight 101lbs, something I had not seen in many years. 2 years later at 41 I fulfilled my dream of becoming a personal trainer, something I love doing almost more than anything (crazy downhill and cross country mountain biking has become my new passion! Who would have thought at 40!) None of this could ever have become possible if I hadn't taken that first step to stop the insanity!
