Elemental Farm

About the farm… Since 2011, our small family farm has grown into 2 acres of veggie & herb production. The health of the soil relies on a symbiotic relationship with the chickens, turkeys, & goats that share the garden space. The garden is nurtured using organic methods & we are working toward certification. We use environmentally friendly systems such as drip irrigation, composting, green manures & reusable materials. We minimize waste and off farm inputs & use of petro powered machinery. All of our starts are grown plastic free – using soil blocks. We use certified organic seed when available & never use treated or GMO seed. We live simply & off grid. Bart Bounds, steward of the farm is joined by his children Magellan, Krikit & Juniper and supported by his partner, Kate Mechan. The 2014 season welcomes Sarah Ouellette & Duncan Smith to the collective. Philosophy: In addition to farming using organic methods, we strongly believe in: • sustainable farming practices; • environmental stewardship; • community building; • local food security; and • social justice. We are committed to feeding individuals and families affordable, nutritious & beautiful food. What we grow… Known locally for our delicious salad greens, we also grow: • root vegetables; • cooking herbs; • medicinal plants; • edible flowers; and • cabbage, kale, & broccoli. We like to experiment so every season brings surprises and this year’s greenhouse will enable us to offer more variety.
