Cottage on the Lake

Welcome to our cottage located on the south shore of Rice Lake. Our 950sq ft waterfront cottage offers relaxation, peace and quiet on Rice Lake but is still within 90 minutes of Toronto/GTA. The cottage is located between Bewdley and Gores Landing on the south shore of Rice Lake. Although there are neighbours on each side the cottage is in a very quiet area towards the end of a private road. The cottage is all about the waterfront, whether it's fishing, enjoying the view or playing in the lake. The cottage has a classic lake house look and feel with 3 bedrooms, bathroom en-suite to master bedroom with claw foot bath and shower, separate powder room, open plan living/kitchen/dining with lots of windows facing the lake with 75ft of waterfront. It is comfortably furnished, has just been redecorated throughout and is perfect for a small family or two couples. It currently has three double (one queen and two full) bedrooms but one will be converted to bunk beds from Summer 2015. The beds are very comfortable and all have memory foam toppers and pillows supplied along with pillow protectors. The cottage has internet access however there are no TV services at the cottage i.e. antenna, cable or dish. There is an Apple TV and a DVD for evenings or if the weather takes a turn for the worse. The 37ft deck has a 6 seater table and chairs and a propane BBQ is provided. There is also a fire pit to sit round at night, ponder the day and watch the beautiful sunsets go down over the water. Then you can chat the evening away underneath the clear starry sky. The 40ft dock is great to just sit with a book and a drink and appreciate the tranquility whilst the waves lap against the shore. And when it gets too hot you can just take a quick dip to cool down. The lake is stony so water shoes are recommended. It is shallow at the shore and deepens to approx. 5ft deep at the end of the dock. As for the fishing – Rice Lake is famous for it and has been a prime fishing destination for over 150 years. There are Walleye, Bass, Pan Fish, Bluegill Muskie, and Crappie. And you don’t even need to leave the cottage as you can just fish off the end of the dock. There are loads of things to do in the area if you can drag yourselves away from the cottage. Out and about the charming heritage towns of Cobourg and Port Hope are both a 15 – 20 minute drive away. Want a fun day out – spend an unforgettable day Treetop Trekking in the Ganaraska Forest. You’ll fly across zip lines and climb like Tarzan on bridges, nets and swings suspended high in the trees. Or hire a boat at Harris Boatworks at Gores Landing and explore the lake – just watch out for the submerged railway line. The best barbecue meat – nip to Muddys Pit BBQ at Keene. Or pop down to Pitchers Place at Gores Landing. For amazing tacos you have El Camino in nearby Cobourg or further afield try St Veronus in Peterborough if you want a huge range of beers and an amazing burger (or one of many other great food choices). Any outstanding balance due one month before arrival. Payment by interac e-transfer. Cancellation refunds are only available if replacement bookings are taken.
