I am Belinda Marie Smith, the woman behind the camera of Chapter 8 Photography (formally Belinda Marie Smith Photography). In addition to being a photographer, I am a mom, wife, librarian, and lover of life and all of its beauty. I aim to capture that love in each photograph I take; because of this, I will always consider myself an amateur (which is French, from the Latin amātor, meaning lover); an amateur photographer, artist, poet, writer, friend, wife, mom. The meaning behind the name "Chapter 8" is quite simple. Photographs document the story of our lives to be endlessly revisited; we turn to photographers to capture the important chapters, either at their beginnings or ends. The number 8 is the symbol for infinity (∞), a loop that has no end. The name Chapter 8 also holds some personal significance: literature is a passion of mine (as well as being a librarian, I majored in English Literature at York University), and on August 8th, 2008 (08/08/08), at 8:08PM I married the man of my dreams!
