2B In Trains

2B in Trains was started as a business in 1998. Our history dates back to when Robert (Bob) Bouteiller was a child in the 1940's and 50's. He received some Standard Gauge trains somewhere along the way and enjoyed them for a number of years. When he went away to university, his mother gave them away. Many years later, his son Brent received his first train at age 5. It was Marx train set with a 999 locomotive, a bunch of cars and some track. Bob and Brent then began to collect trains. By 1990, Brent and Bob had a fair sized collecton. At that time, the local hobby shop thought trains were dead but the reality was people were starving for it. We had too many trains and it was time to sell some off. It was then that we realized that people were starving for a good supply of trains. We bought and sold as a hobby for a number of year and gained a lot of knowledge about the hobb and the business. Finally we decided to try to open a store and make it a viable business. Our hobby shop would be dedicated to model trains only. We decided to stock the store with new trains but we always carry a good supply of used product. Most of the time the used products go to the shows only or on eBay. We presently carry O/O27, HO and N scale products. We have had other scales such as G, S and Z but the reality is that the market is very small in those scales. Along the way, Bob's wife, Gail, got involved and really knows buildings. Earlier this year, Brent's daughter Charlotte decided to get involved. She is now running the day to day operations. We now have three generations of family involved. We are an authorized dealer and service center for Lionel and MTH. We regularly stock Atlas, Athearn, Micro-Trains, Walthers, Bachmann, Peco, Kadee, Roundhouse, Life-Like, Kato, Woodland Scenics, Model Power, Digitrax, Lionel, MTH and others. We have many suppliers and go direct to some manufacturers. As a result, we can get many items that we don't normally stock. We have a vast amount of knowledge. We can tell you about collector value. We can tell you how to lay track. We can tell you how to service your trains on a regular basis. We know about digital command systems such as MTH DCS, Lionel's TMCC and Digitrax's DCC system.
