For those who do not know, Brigadeiro is a Brazilian sweet. BRIGADEIRO is the Portuguese word for Brigadier. In 1945, an Air Force Brigadier-General Eduardo Gomes was a candidate for the Brazil presidency, the first year Brazilian women could vote for president. - Ladies who supported him helped his campaign by selling chocolate sweets as a fundraiser. Gomes' campaign slogan - "Vote no Brigadeiro, que é bonito e é solteiro" (Vote for the Brigadier, who's good-looking and single) didn't grant him victory, but Brazil had a new name for an increasingly popular and ever so delicious sweet. Today, Brigadeiro is a must have in any birthday party and kids love them. If you ask Brazilian children what they expect to find to eat at a birthday party besides cake, they're probably going to answer 'Brigadeiros'. The traditional recipe calls for condensed milk, chocolate powder and butter. And you can find a lot of different flavors. Our Brigadeiros and sprinkles are hand made with imported select premium Belgian Chocolate, earning the nickname Brigadeiro Gourmet
