I am a graduate of Mount Allison University's Fine Arts Program where I focused on painting and drawing. After graduating in 2003, I freelanced as an illustrator for newspapers across Canada. I graduated from Crandall University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Education and have been teaching art for the past 3 years. My family and I recently moved to Fogo Island Newfoundland where my fiance was born. I am currently focusing all my time on my art. The inspiration for my work is rooted deeply within Newfoundland's sublime landscape. I begin my work with the ideas of movement, light and texture with strong lines and vibrant colors as vital elements within the piece. The fishing shed is a prominant fixture in most of my work and is a structure that I have become quite fond of. To me it embodies a strength and perseverance matched only by the people who call this land home. My work is never an exact replica of a particular time or place, rather a mix of times and places, set in a dream with a nod to the Newfoundlander's sense of humour.
