Way North Foods

Many Canadians are unaware of the outrageously high cost of food in Nunavut. Northerners pay far more for their necessities, with many food staples selling for as much as 10 times the Canadian average. The tremendous cost of living combined with extremely low incomes has forced many Inuit families to go hungry, with one in three people experiencing food insecurity every month. For those in need, the current national strategy simply isn’t working. Food is a basic human right. Together let’s raise our voices and force our elected officials to end the price hike facing our northern neighbours. Help raise awareness of the issue by sharing the content on our Facebook page or at endthepricehike.ca This initiative was created in partnership with Feeding My Family, who have been working tirelessly to bring awareness to the fact that the high cost of food is preventing many Northerners from living healthy, happy and productive lives.
