Stylist Brings Urban Edge to Rural Environment (featured in the Port Dover Hub 2010) With 13 years of experience in cutting and as a colour technician under her belt, Jennifer Cassidy has come a long way from where she started. Jennifer started out at an award winning salon in Oakville where she completed her apprenticeship. After 4 years working with that salon, she met her now husband Mark Cassidy and moved to Simcoe where she opened her own home based salon. From there she moved to Port Dover where she’s set up shop out of her home. Even though the salon is in her home, the atmosphere is comfortable, professional and very separate from her living space. The name of the salon Urban Edge is to show that she brings just that; and urban edge to an otherwise rural environment. “I love to do hair. I love to be creative and to transform people to be the most beautiful they can be. I think it is so important to really listen to my client at every visit. A thorough consultation is the key to a successful outcome and is also the building blocks to a good relationship with my clients”, says Jennifer. Jennifer uses L’Oreal Professional colour and always advises clients on how to do their hair after they leave the salon. This includes how to blow-dry their hair style after their cut, product knowledge and how to finish their style. Jennifer also does manicures as well. She has recently brought in a 14 day wear, no chip, smudge proof, instant dry hybrid nail polish called Shellac. “It’s amazing!!! So durable, shiny and you get 14 days out of your manicure.
