Traci Cockcroft

Traci Cockcroft is on a mission—to fill the everyday with art, one garden at a time. “I don't think there is enough art. There are too many blank walls, boring spaces, and neutral colors.” Her one-of-a-kind sculptures are inspired by the everyday. Where other people see “junk”, Traci sees possibilities. “When I look at discarded items, objects, I don’t see them for what they are, but what they can become. I see inspiration in everything.” For Cockcroft, the process is as important as the piece of art. She loves the hunt for unusual and vintage items, and then she loves to dream up ways to work with them. “I twist them around in my mind until I discover what I am meant to do with them.” Traci is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to creativity. And she learned from the best. “My grandmother taught me to recycle before it was recycling. My dad taught me to build—he once made a full-size plane in our garage. My mom, who “sewed” costumes with a tape and stapler, taught me to improvise. I took Culinary Arts because I found it so amazing that with just a handful of ingredients, you can create a lavish wedding cake.” Cockcroft loves experimenting. She teaches herself new techniques. Often, she’ll mash two different kinds of art together. The results are stunning: unique, durable art from recycled objects that will brighten your home, or accent your yard.
