Thunder Bay Cow Horse Club

Sue Karkkainen had helped Don Quinte (who's gang had been doing this off and on for years) with a few cow horse intro. clinics back in 2003. Don's busy schedule had prevented him from doing more; so Sue & Lisa Vanlenthe started to brainstorm. After an enthusiastic push from Cathy Hoard, the three gals forged ahead and put on the first "Cow 101" mini clinic in the spring of 2007. More folks got on board in 2008 and there were 2 more cow horse intro. clinics that year. In the spring of 2009, Laura organized "Cut out Diabetes" which gave those involved a taste of cattle sorting. Lisa's idea for the "Cow Daze" clinic in the fall of 2009 gave participants a further understanding of teamwork and working one-on-one with the cows. We talked further about where we want to go from here and decided to start an informal club so that we can start organizing regular practices and events. In 2010 we started hosting monthly sorting competitions. In 2012, Lisa moved on to greener pastures in Manitoba. In 2013, Sue stepped back to attend to family matters and Cathy to attend to health matters. Pam Lynch and other club members have now taken over running things.
