The Tavistock Hop Company

The Tavistock Hop Company began with an idea to grow something we could be passionate about, something few people were already doing, and something that we wanted to be a part of. That “something” we’re referring to is the current movement of beer connoisseurs towards purchasing and supporting craft brewers as they endeavor to create new and exciting flavor profiles for our enjoyment. What started as a simple suggestion from a friend, home brewer and craft beer enthusiast “hey you should grow hops on your farm”, quickly became an obsession for us. The more we researched this heritage crop, the more set we were on planting our own hop yard to service the craft beer industry that we so love. It didn’t take long before another friend caught the “hop bug” and expressed interest in venturing into growing hops alongside us on our farm. After months of research and education the wheels are in motion for a spring 2014 startup. Our goal is to provide quality locally grown hops to the craft brewing industry. We’ve selected Cascade Centennial and Newport cultivars with plans to add more varieties and expand our acreage as we build brewer relationships and develop our business to suit their needs. It’s going to be a busy spring for our family and friends as we start breaking ground after the spring melt. The Hop yard will be located on our family farm (Brenwyn Farms) that we purchased in the spring of 2012. Together with my wife Julie our son Nash and baby #2 on the way, we will be farming with our partners in hops, Jeremy and Donna Bartlett and their 3 boys Keaton, Rowan and Camden.
