The Inspiration Studio Okotoks

The Inspiration Studio is a haven for those looking for a way inside themselves in order to truly live the authentic life they were meant to when they were born. No on is too young or too old to open that door. Every single person on our planet has a creative side and it is glorious and abundant. Too many times artists are given negative labels such as 'lazy' or 'unrealistic'. And these are very damaging deterrents to artists of any age. When a new student joins the Studio, I encourage them to talk about what it means to them that they are creative and have artistic skills. How do they feel being described as an artist? Are they supported or criticized by their family? In my 14 years as an educator, I have seen even amounts of both. However, things are changing in today's world where uniqueness and following ones' true path is encouraged and celebrated, where only a few years ago- art education was seen merely as a frill. The Studio was aptly named by a former adult student who felt it best described how she felt while attending classes. Since it's inception in 2007, it has seen over 35 students in private lessons, buddy classes, workshops and summer camps. Currently, it is housed within my basement and can accommodate up to 5 students at a time. Plans to expand may need to be moved up as the Studio's popularity is surpassing my expectations...The Fantasy Fine Art Camps-(30 hours of art education + their art show)-this summer, were a huge success and the students all wanted another week of projects! (But I was beat!) The ISAFA (Inspiration Studio Academy of Fine Art) Programming opened as of September 2013 with three Artist Leagues: Sweet w/ages 7-10 Awesome: w/ages 11-13 Epic: w/ages 13+. All three Leagues have filled well and so far the students have asked for more summer camps! My goal for my Studio and ISAFA, is to serve the Okotoks and surrounding communities with both high quality instruction, fun and affordable art lessons for ages 3-100!
