The Glasshopper

Chris has been a Professional Stained Glass artist for the past 37+ years as The Glasshopper Studio in Port Hope, Ontario. She specializes in commissions, custom work, period restorations and repairs. Her frequent decision to incorporate ‘found objects’ and whimsical accents continues to make her work exciting, fresh and interpretive of classical design. She is constantly stretching the boundaries of her medium with new ideas and techniques. Her fully-equipped glass studio includes copper foiling (Tiffany style), lead work, kiln work, sand etching and mosaics. Numerous original custom-designed examples of Chris’ work may be found in private homes, businesses, corporations and institutions in the greater Metropolitan Toronto area and other communities throughout southern Ontario and across Canada. Commission pieces may also be found in private and corporate collections in the following countries: Australia, West Indies, USA, England, Ireland, Japan, Hong Kong and mainland China. Chris is co-owner of the gallery Lord Russborough’s Annex in Port Hope, Ontario. She is a member of the Arts Council of Northumberland, the Ontario Crafts Council, the Art Gallery of Northumberland, the Spirit of the Hills, the Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre in Haliburton, the Glass Art Association of Canada and Fusion: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association. She has participated in the Northumberland Hills Studio Tour for many years.
