Tall Trees Nature Programs

Education in Qualicum Beach, BC · See Education throughout British Columbia

Tall Trees Nature Programs meets in local, public, natural spaces. The sky is our ceiling, the trees are our walls, and the floor is the living Earth. When we get to know our local places without the rush that we often feel in our day-to-day life, we form an intimate, deep, and personal connection to the natural world. Children are encouraged to engage all of their senses and to develop their observation skills through our commitment to child-driven flow learning, emergent curriculum, and an inquiry-based teaching style. The flow of learning at Tall Trees is led by the interests of the children and emerges naturally with the rhythms of the changing seasons. We strongly believe that there is great therapeutic value in just "being" in the outdoors, rather than always "doing" in the outdoors. This benefit is particularly important to children as they learn positive ways in which to manage their emotions.
