Spool Lounge

Spool Lounge is a creative sewing studio and shop in Barrie, Ontario. Spool Lounge provides the space, machines and resources for sewers to work at their own pace in a dedicated space. It is a sewing studio for people who don’t have the proper equipment or space on hand, and also for those who prefer to work away from the distractions of home in a practical and inspiring studio environment. Spool Lounge offers the tools, materials and expertise that allow sewers at all levels to learn new skills, find quality supplies and connect with and learn from other makers. ● The space: our studio, Spool Lounge, 750 square feet in downtown Barrie ● The tools: 4 domestic sewing machines, 1 serger and 1 industrial sewing machine, 2 cutting tables, 2 ironing boards and irons, rotary tools and scissors, patterns, specialty rulers, pattern chalk and pens, etc. ● The materials: cotton fabric, wool felt, notions (buttons, needles, thread, ribbon, stitch rippers, clasps, bias tape, lace, zippers, etc.) ● The expertise: our knowledgeable staff, one-on-one lessons, and group classes. Spool Lounge facilitates textile-based classes in garment making, quilting, crafting (small functional pieces and art works such as pin cushions, change purses, toys, brooches, etc.), and fibre arts (fine art work using textiles as the medium) for creative people with beginner through advanced skills. Spool Lounge also carries a curated collection of fabric, notions, tools, patterns and sewing-kits for sale.
