Sarnia-Lambton Local Immigration Partnership - LIP

Government Organization in Sarnia, ON · See Government Organization throughout Ontario

The Sarnia-Lambton Local Immigration Partnership (LIP), chaired by The County of Lambton and funded by Citizenship, Immigration & Refugees Canada (IRCC), was created in 2009. It is a community-wide, multi-sectoral partnership that works to increase collaboration between settlement agencies, community members, service providers and other stakeholders in order to ease the settlement experience for immigrants and newcomers. Our LIP is made up of a Council which steers our activities, and sector working groups which study gaps in the immigration and settlement experience. We then make recommendations to fill these gaps. The five areas of focus, called PILLARS, which guide our work are: 1. Settlement & Language 2. Employment 3. Public Awareness 4. Coordination of Services 5. Research Ultimately, our goal is to create a Settlement Strategy that will ensure that Sarnia-Lambton is a Welcoming Community for immigrants and newcomers.
