The Celebration of Lights is a long standing Sarnia tradition. It is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and funded solely by personal and business donors who share our passion for this seasonal festival of lights. The majority of funds received are used annually to repair and maintain the displays currently owned by the organization, as well as to obtain new technology and new lighting displays. Set-up and take-down of the displays is done with the help of many local volunteers on the second Saturday of November and the first Saturday of January each year respectively. As a thank-you for the communities continued support each season is kick-off with a grand Opening Ceremony on the first Friday following setup day. This free kick-off ceremony has traditionally included music, cake, horse and wagan rides and fireworks; with a special visit from Santa to flip the ON switch.
