Sandee's Country Kitchen

My Story All my best childhood memories have baking in them. From helping my mom with cookies and cakes to trying to see how my aunt made her divinity fudge. My mom was known for her killer chocolate cake she baked in a frying pan on top of the stove. I loved how she would just know it was time to lift the lid, and the cake always was perfect, it never fell. Her pastry was another success. Everyone loved my mom’s pastry. It took quite a few years for me to master her pastry, but I did it! From an early age I baked. My dad loved his sweets, and my mom worked in her clothing store attached to our home, so we would create some baked goodies together and I would take care of the baking while Daddy taste tested everything. Over the years, baking would always make me happy, and I would bake to relieve stress. I would be told that I should do it for a living, but never gave it much thought. Preservatives and additives in store bought products started to cause major allergic reactions in me. When you develop food sensitivities you have to pay close attention to all the ingredients that are in the food we purchase in the grocery stores, and when I did that I decided that I wasn’t going to continue to eat packaged and processed food any longer. So my journey began creating everything I eat from scratch. From cookies, to baking my own breads to making my own hotdog and hamburger buns, even homemade pasta, everything is from scratch! Baking became a daily obsession while I was recovering from foot surgery. I would send samples with my husband to his office and again I was told I should do this for a living. That is when I had my proverbial “AH HA” moment I decided why not what I love do, and bake for a living. So Sandee’s Country Baking has begun. Here is to ‘going it old-school’ and living a preservative free life!
