Welcome to Sam Cote Surfing Experience! *** THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SURF SCHOOL BUT AN INITIATIVE TO ACCOMMODATE FRIENDS AND REFERENCES TO LEARN HOW TO SURF IN A MORE PRIVATE ATMOSPHERE *** You always wanted to learn how to surf? Here is your opportunity to get tips from an experienced surfer. This is an opportunity to learn the basics of surfing for free. I can only accommodate 3 surfers at the time and my schedule is quite busy. Are you comfortable in the water? Do you know how to swim? Are you in a good physical shape? If your answer is yes, then you can participate and take this 2 hours session. Make sure you have a wetsuit that is going to allow you to spend approximately one hour in the water (long sleeves). Sometimes, boots, gloves and even a hood can be required depending on the water temperature. I will provide the surfboard for free and if, and only if, you are fully satisfied with your initiation to surfing, I will accept donations of $60/surfer/session to compensate for gas and surfboard maintenance. I will provide all the tips and help you will need to get started. You will learn about: - The ocean: Tides, winds, creation of waves, types of waves, types of beaches, hazards (rip currents, pollution, sharks, etc.) - Surf gear: Types of surfboards, wetsuits, fins, leashes, wax. - Surfing etiquette: Right of way, communication, paddling, rules of the lineup, respect, how to pick the right spot. - Paddling out: How to paddle, duck dive, turtle roll, sit on your board, read the waves, and pick the right wave. - Catching a wave. Bring a snack, water, sunblock and your smile! Surf’s up!
