Potter Creek Ranch

We foal approximately 20 carefully selected mares each year and stand 1 stallion. We are serious about our stallion to mare combinations and our goal is an excellent individual with a "No Holes" pedigree. We do believe in mare power. Because of this, our mares are first broke to ride, enabling us to better predict the excellence and qualities of their offspring. Young horses are handled extensively and are started under saddle in their second year and then turned out to grow and mature. In their third and fourth year they are rode many miles and are ready for sale. We also have mature (5yr+) finished horses for sale as well. Our Quarter Horses are from well known cow horse bloodlines with a major focus on: Excellent Minds Super Conformation Classy Looks Our Paint Horses are of performance and race bloodlines, with a major focus also on: Excellent Minds Super Conformation Outstanding Looks At Potter Creek Ranch we focus primarily on training horses for cowhorse events and ranch work. We also prepare horses for sales, tune up older horses, give lessons, and start young horses for any discipline. We feel that the start on every horse is very important and that the first 30 to 90 days is very similar regardless of the discipline. Each horse receives a similar but tailored program in which each animal can best reach their potential. Results will vary but the majority of all horses that complete one month of training will be ready to go do a job inside or outside the arena. Horses in our 30 to 90 day program will have a great start on the fundamental basics (walk, trot, lope, turn-around, stop, back-up, pick-up correct leads, and collect up readily at a walk and trot).
