One Good Eye

One Good Eye Face Painting by Taira Murphy What does One Good Eye mean? My name is Taira, with an “i”, which has always been hard for people to pronounce. It’s Tara, or Terra. I also have an eye disease called glaucoma which has damaged my vision in one of my eyes so in my family we joke that I have a “good eye” and a “bad eye” although both eyes are healthy right now. Why don’t you use glitter or jewels? I have sensitive skin and so does my daughter. I am also a daycare teacher that works with a lot of young children so I find it safer not to risk having them get glitter in their eyes or have a skin irritation from a glue product. What kind of face paints do you use? I currently use Wolfe brand Hydrocolor and TAG body art professional facepaints. http://www.wolfefx.com/ Wolfe facepaints have dense pigmentation, bright colors, are wax based and clean up easily with soap and water. TAG is a fantastic professional water-based face paint/makeup. Please note: the US FDA recommends against using red, yellow, orange or purple facepaints near the eyes and or using blue, green or purple facepaints near the lips to avoid possible staining issues. What do you charge? I do face painting for fun! A standard rate for many facepainters is $30-$40/hour for a group or a flat fee for one session (eg full face skull for Halloween $50 may take 2-3 hours). I am available for many community events or fundraisers for a small fee that covers materials and a donation jar for clients.
