Olds Institute

The Olds Institute for Community and Regional Development is one of the most unique community economic development organizations in Canada. It is a volunteer-led, community-driven non-profit that embraces the principles of sustainability in every decision it makes. Unlike many economic development agencies, the Olds Institute works on a broad spectrum of economic, social, environmental, cultural and governance initiatives from a community sustainability perspective. The Olds Institute owns two local companies: Mountain View Power is an electricity retailer offering competitive rates for electricity to residents and businesses in Olds and the region. When you buy your electricity from Mountain View Power, the profits go back into the community. O-NET is an information and communications technology company bringing leading edge Internet, TV and phone services to Olds through a powerful fibre network it is installing throughout the community.
