In the late 1980's and early 1990's, Niagara Falls' High Schools introduced rowing to their athletes. A.N. Myer and Saint Paul High Schools both began programs and a few years later St. Michael High School joined in. These three schools have trained and boated student athletes for 25 years now and continue to do so. Unfortunately, all students are affiliated with out of town clubs since a local rowing club does not exist. This year the three schools had 75 athletes join and train in out of town facilities. Of these 75 athletes only a handful are able to continue rowing with the competitive summer program due to job commitments and travel issues. A local club would help keep athletes involved in the sport of rowing throughout the year.
