New Westminster New Media Gallery

The New Media Gallery was established by the City of New Westminster, Parks, Culture & Recreation, and began operations in March, 2014. The gallery opened in September, 2014. The New Media Gallery is a non-collecting institution, dedicated to presenting innovative, high quality exhibitions of international, national and regional new media art. Our exhibition programming includes research, documentation and a commitment to the care and quality presentation of a diverse range of loans. We present six exhibitions a year, each 8 weeks long. The New Media Gallery aspires to an international profile. We are proud to bring together the work of significant established artists, as well as new work by emerging artists. The New Media Gallery promotes knowledge and understanding of contemporary new media art through: - innovative, informative and engaging exhibitions - building committed relationships with artists, lenders, staff, audiences, supporters and community - a commitment to the cultural role of New Media Gallery in the regional Greater Vancouver area. - engaging regionally, nationally and internationally on behalf of New Media Gallery. The New Media Gallery is located in a new, 84,000 square foot Arts & Culture Centre. We are built to a LEED'S Gold Standard. Our flexible gallery space ranges from 2000 sq ft - 3300 sq ft. The Anvil Centre also houses a museum & archives, community art gallery, 364 seat non- proscenium theatre, art studios, a digital arts programming studio, meeting and symposium rooms available for gallery screenings and lectures. Gallery support spaces include: various holding, storage and preparation/workshop rooms and three loading docks. We're easy to visit. We are directly linked to central Vancouver and Surrey by Sky Train: 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver to Anvil Centre doorstep. For those who wish to visit the exhibitions after work, the gallery is open late on Thursday nights, and during special events (check for special event times). We welcome requests for Curatorial Tours - these are free of charge.
