Ned Taylor in Saanich

I've lived in Saanich my entire life. As a child, I loved being active and passionate about a sport. I was constantly involved with sports teams and groups, whether it was cycling, boxing, hockey, cross country running, badminton, or gymnastics. However, as I begun my years in high school, I gained an extraordinary passion for political activism and engagement. I started focusing my time and energy from sports, to anything I could find myself doing in politics. After getting deeply involved in the 2015 federal election, I started an online petition to ban cages that confine hens in Canada's egg industry. Before long, I garnered over 33,000 signatures and support from Elizabeth May and Lana Popham! With Lana Popham now BC's new Minister of Agriculture, I might actually be able to ban this inhumane caging practice in BC's egg industry. I'm proud of the initiative I took to create needed change. Seeing some of the struggles of people in Saanich has influenced me to take initiative once again. It saddens me to hear stories of people feeling left out of important decisions in our community, and I know I can change that. I have the passion and drive necessary to be an exceptional City Councillor. I've always loved giving back to my community and getting engaged to make a difference. I shaved my head twice in the last few years to raise over $1700 for cancer research. In the last twelve months I've volunteered over 500 hours to political organizations I care about. I've attended countless public consultation events to make my concerns heard among levels of government. But now, I'm ready to make your ideas and concerns heard at municipal hall. I'm listening - and I'm ready to be Saanich's newest Councillor.
