Mulvihill Insurance

In 1951, J.P. Mulvihill senior who had worked as a textile foreman for Kenwood Mills in Arnprior for 26 years, decided to change careers and he purchased an existing insurance agency in Arnprior called G.F. MacNab Agency. In 1971, J.P. Mulvihill junior (Jim), at the age of 24, moved back to Arnprior with his wife Louise and one year old son Kevin to work with his father after working for Sun Life Insurance Company in North Bay. At this point, the name of the agency officially changed to J.P. Mulvihill and Son General Insurance Agency. Unfortunately, in October 1976, J.P. Mulvihill Senior passed away and Jim purchased the business from the estate, incorporated in 1980 as J.P. Mulvihill & Son General Insurance Brokers Limited. In 1996, Jim purchased his main competitor in the town of Arnprior, Neil Campbell Insurance, and with this acquisition, the agency volume doubled. Fortunately for Jim, the brokerage remains successful today as all of his children joined the company, son Kevin and daughter Erin son Matthew. Mulvihill Insurance continues to service Arnprior and the Ottawa Valley and is now into its 3rd generation. Mulvihill Insurance believes in giving back to the community by continually providing support to local charities and organizations.
