Volunteers and Learners: As a volunteer, you will provide free and confidential one-to-one tutoring services to older youth and adults of all ages who seek help in improving their numeracy and literacy levels. This can help them primarily for new or improved employment and educational opportunities. We offer specialized tutor training to volunteers recruited from our regional community to provide these services. The volunteer tutors and learners meet regularly at locations mutually convenient for each pair. *** As a learner, you can receive training through a number of programs in addition to the one-to-one tutoring program. The following is a list of learning opportunities that the MRLC provides: • Adult and youth one-to-one tutoring programs • Peer Youth tutoring program in high schools • Family literacy training for parents and care givers • Individualized tutoring for children in public schools • Story Time with the Moncton Boys’ and Girls’ Club • Student Support Group • Literacy events in the community Programs and learning materials are personalized to fit each individual’s learning style and availability. The learners and volunteer tutors meet regularly at locations mutually convenient for each pair.
