LB Hydro

For those of you who don't know what Hydrographics is, here's a little about us and the process. The process starts by us prepping the part by cleaning it several times. (certain plastics may require flame treatment to pull out any release agents left in the plastic from the factory moulding process). The part is then scuffed and sprayed with base coat (again certain materials will need to have special treatment, such as adhesion promoter and primer before the base coat). Here at Laid Back Hydro we use only the best automotive primers, base and clears to ensure a durable and long lasting finish. We then lay a sheet of polyvinyl film on top of water in our dip tank and spray an activator on the film, once the film turns to a liquid we dip the part into the water and the film etches itself into the base coat. The part is then clear coated with a flat or gloss finish. (We can also do candy coating and pearl coating before the top clear for additional cost). First opening it's doors in 2011 under Next Generation as a large family owned operation, we introduced Manitoba to the Hydrographics process showing the true capabilities of Hydrographics. Moving forward as Laid Back Hydro in 2016 three of our family members have moved on to exciting new projects but the quality of our workmanship will always remain the same. We're a family run business with over 50 years combined experience in the painting and automotive industries. We are Manitoba's first and longest running hydrographics shop with the only location centralized right here in Winnipeg. Matt - Matt is an original owner here at Laid Back and has over 6 years of painting and hydrographics experience. Matt has also completed hydrographics training through liquid concepts in the USA. His full time job is operating one of 4 of the biggest concrete pumps Manitoba can handle, pumping all the major projects including the new museum and Bomber stadium. When he's not working in the shop Matt likes to work on his Camaro, golf and travel. Ashley - Ashley is a newby and has just started with Laid Back this year. She has over 10 years experience in marketing and sales and is basically the voice of Laid Back. She handles all the events, marketing and most of the quotes. She's currently learning the painting and dipping process in order to become the company's triple threat! Ashley is in sales full time and when she's not learning something new in the shop she likes to garden, fish and work on the Camaro with Matt. Rene - Rene is also an original owner at Laid Back and has over 40 years of automotive and painting experience, with an additional 6 years experience in hydrographics. Rene has also completed the hydrographics training through Liquid Concepts in the USA as well. Rene is a jack of all trades working in the construction industry doing pretty much every job imaginable from equipment repairs, concrete placing and heating to welding. On his time off he enjoys bbqing, working on his many automotive projects and building new things.
