Komfort Kitchen

Komfort Kitchen is located in the NE corner of 9th Street & Princess Avenue, in the heart of the Downtown Hub of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. The building, erected around 1911, was once a small confectionery store. The market expanded and they began selling food and drinks to hungry people. As time went by a caf� was established for the citizens of Brandon. The well-known Princess Cafe stood for many years as a recommended place to eat from the 40's until the 90's. In 2004, Derek Woychyshyn was approached to create a new restaurant at 835 Princess Avenue! It was decided that a breakfast and lunch joint would fit right in to Downtown Brandon. After a three month face lift, Komfort Kitchen opened its doors on February 3rd, 2005. In 2009 it became apparent that more space was required. Our small restaurant had grown a reputation of having great food and friendly service, so more and more customers came in for breakfast and lunch. This resulted in the neighbouring building of 829 Princess Avenue providing the space for a large expansion. A complete renovation turned 1000 sqfeet into more space for both the dining area and the kitchen. The kitchen was expanded to meet the needs of both the restaurant as well as the catering side of the business. The added space also allowed the KK to boost the seating capacity from 47 to 80. With the help of a BNRC grant, both buildings had a store front facelift to create a common, more updated look. The Owner/Operator has been cooking in the Culinary Arts field since 1996. He is a graduate of the ACC Professional Cooking Course (1999) and obtained a Red Seal for the Trade of Cook in 2002. Derek was honoured to receive the esteemed Assiniboine Community College's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2011. Komfort Kitchen was awarded the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce in 2011! Komfort Kitchen takes pride in a passion for cooking. They employ both full and part time chefs, many of whom are qualified with a Red Seal. They provide apprenticing for Culinary Arts graduates of Assiniboine Community College, thus giving chefs an opportunity to obtain a Red Seal. Komfort Kitchen staff is also made up of several experienced and personable service staff as well as bussers to assist them in their role. As the KK is proud of their high standard of cleanliness, there are also several dishwashers as well as a staff person devoted to deep cleaning. These credentials teamed with a love for great food is the recipe for their success. Professionally prepared food is created from scratch and brought to your table hot, fresh and just how you ordered it. Komfort Kitchen also provides catering for groups of 5 to 205 people. They can deliver to you snacks, breakfast, work place lunches, appetizers, hot evening buffets, 3 to 5 course plate service meals & desserts. Arrangements can be made to allow you to host your function in the restaurant after 4:30, where seating, washrooms, food & beverage service is all available in one licensed location for up to 80 people! Komfort Kitchen is proud to be a part of the Downtown Hub. They give back to the community when possible by donating to charities and special events, as well as providing food donations to various organizations.
