Koma Heim

Koma Heim (koh-muh heym) – in Icelandic, our name means ‘come home’. We are located in the beautiful town of Gimli, on the shore of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. We started Koma Heim in 2005, inspired by our love of travel and by the people we have met along the way. Our mission is to bring the world home to you through our eclectic collection of furniture, home accents, cultural objects, clothing, jewellery and accessories. Many of our finds are purchased in village markets or through village cooperatives and artisan groups in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Africa, South America, Central America, Nepal, Pakistan and India. We reflect a variety of cultures, traditions and styles, ranging from elegant to alternative to tribal - always interesting and always changing. We also support local artists and carry beautiful handcrafted jewellery from within Canada and North America. We offer antique Chinese furniture and salvaged items restored by artisans in a family owned restoration business near Beijing. We also select contemporary furniture with simple, timeless design and an emphasis on fine wood and quality craftsmanship. We support fair trade and direct trade, and buy directly from artisans wherever possible.
