Kincardine "To the Point" Toastmasters

A Typical Meeting by Kincardine Toastmasters Invocation: We begin the meeting with some words that are provocative, inspiring, and encouraging. Chairperson: A small business meeting keeps all members up to date on the health and future planning of the club. Toastmaster: This person will be the master of ceremonies for the evening’s events. They will introduce the speakers, evaluators, and other persons who are taking part in the meeting. Table Topics: There is a lot of value in being able to speak with very little time for formal preparation. The opportunity is given to speak for a couple of minutes on a topic that is usually provided by the person who takes on this role. Peels of laughter can often be heard at this particular juncture of our meetings. Grammarian: The Grammarian will challenge us all with a word to use throughout the meeting. Another role this person plays is keeping a listening ear for misuses of grammar and the “ahs” and “ums” used to fill those gaps in our speech. Take 5: This is not always part of our meetings. It usually consists of some educational aspect of Toastmasters International. These can be on topics dealing with the growth of our club, to topics dealing with effective leadership. Joke master: A little bit of light humor keeps everyone in a creative mood! Speeches: Most evenings there will be two or three speakers. Not only are they very entertaining, informative and engaging with their content, but they are also excellent teaching tools for those who are looking to sharpen their communications skills.
