Deeply influenced by his a mixture of Ojibway Native American and Swedish descent Glen Keesic creates beautiful art. He was Born Dec 2nd 1965 in Red Lake Ont., Canada. Glen's favourite mediums include graphite, ink and acrylics. �The biggest influences on Glen's art are artists Jack Kirby, John Buscema, Frank Frazetta, and Leonardo da Vinci. Jack Kirby taught Glen about dynamic action, composition and color theory. Whereas Kirby was the inspiration for Glen's ideas, John Buscema (another comic book artist) helped build the foundation for his artistic skills. Frank Frazetta's balance of colours, forms and shapes greatly influence the backgrounds of all Glen's art. Glen has studied Leonardo da Vinci extensively for his use of design, light and shadow. The internet has broadened Glen's ability to view art. It has provided new and fresh creativity for Glen and has encouraged him to explore new areas of expression. As early as grade 3 Glen begun creating wildlife pictures for class projects. Fascinated by comic books at age 11, he started drawing characters from his comic books. In 1987 Glen sold his first piece of art a painting of Red Fox a 16” x 20” acrylic painting. Glen was commissioned to create the 75th anniversary picture for the town of Sioux Lookout in 1987. 100 limited edition prints of this picture were sold. Glens love of wildlife lead him to create a series of 5 inked, limited edition, wildlife prints from 1988-1993. In 1989, Glen started acrylic painting on canvas. He started working on acrylic wildlife and portraits in 1989 and presently works heavily in this medium. In 2016 Glen is introducing new concepts of contemporary art into his paintings. Lush backgrounds and hauntingly beautiful animals make up the the foundation of Glen's career in art. Glen is now turning his sights from the wild to the whimsical in his new creations. Wildlife art is a regional interest that brought attention to Glen's work. He has spent the last 25 years creating and selling art. Moving forward Glen is developing new ideas, concepts, collaboration and will be merging abstract with other contemporary styles. His goal is to explore a variety of colours and forms to express the freedom of mind and soul that celebrates the human experience. Glen wants his art to give people a sense of wonder, comfort, support and inspiration. He hopes his painting will be a reminder of hope, success, purpose and excitement.
