Kamloops Graffiti Task Force Society

The Kamloops Graffiti Task Force (KGTF) Society's mission is graffiti abatement, awareness and education in the City of Kamloops. Our very small, not-for-profit organization is funded in large part by the Parks, Recreation and Culture department of the City of Kamloops for the specific task of keeping City-owned parks and buildings clean of graffiti vandalism. Aside from parks, the KGTF crew, which is comprised mainly of seasonal student helpers, is also responsible for cleaning or painting over graffiti in highly visible areas of the city, such as retaining walls and bridge underpasses owned by the City of Kamloops. The task force does not remove graffiti from private property for free (a fee is negotiated with the property owner). Homeowners and business owners are responsible for removing graffiti from their property (i.e. buildings, walls and fences) and should be aware that the City of Kamloops has a graffiti bylaw (No. 25-5) Our vision: A community free of graffiti vandalism, where paint is a tool for urban beautification rather than defilement; a community where buildings, homes, businesses and public institutions are untouched by tagging or willful defacement. HOW TO REPORT GRAFFITI: Please report any graffiti on City property, Telus boxes, or BC Hydro boxes, by calling the KGTF office at 250-314-0386 or City of Kamloops Bylaw Enforcement at 250-828-3409 with the location and description of the tag. If you have a photo of the tag, please email it to kamloopsgraffiti@gmail.com. If you have graffiti on your property, call us at 250-314-0386 to see how we can be of service. (Note: Please leave a message; the crew is most likely to be out in the field when you call). If you see graffiti on a neighbouring house or business, please contact Kamloops Bylaw Enforcement at 250-828-3409 or via email at bylaws@kamloops.ca. You can also report graffiti directly to the City of Kamloops through your mobile phone if you have the MyKamloops app installed. Here is some more information about the app: http://www.city.kamloops.bc.ca/followus/mykamloops.shtml. If you see vandals tagging your property or City of Kamloops property, call Kamloops RCMP immediately. Do not approach or confront the vandals.
