Jeff Guillemette

Born and raised in Timmins, I come from a background in construction. I am a 3rd generation Red Seal Brick and Stone Mason in the Guillemette family. I learned my trade mostly from my father and brother, but I’ve also worked for different companies while travelling and during the summers of my university years. I’ve worked restoring heritage masonry buildings on the Dalhousie University Campus in Halifax for a season, worked on stonemasonry projects in the Muskoka’s for a season, and built masonry ovens with Mayans in the Andes of Guatemala on two different trips during the winters. I graduated with an Honours degree in Commerce from The University of Guelph, where I majored in Housing and Real Estate Management, and also studied International Development at the University of Mysore and the University of Rajasthan while on a Semester Abroad in India. After I completed my degree, I backpacked through Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Colombia, Iceland, India, France, and The Yukon. Since 2007, I have helped take care of my family’s business, Guillemette Masonry, and have earned part ownership of the company. I am a past member of the Board of Directors for the Timmins Construction Association, a current member of the Regional Infrastructure Health and Safety Committee for Construction and the Provincial Infrastructure Health and Safety Committee for Masonry. In the winters, I referee hockey and am the Director of the Timmins Referees Association. And, while this is at times a humbling pastime to say the least, it’s rewarding to give back to the sport I loved to play while growing up from Minor hockey to the Timmins Majors and Iroquois Falls Jr. Eskies. While I am a busy person, it's important to me that I make time to be with my growing family. Spending my spare time at the cottage with family and friends is something I truly cherish. I enjoy my career in Real Estate and practice the same principles instilled in me by my family while learning my trade: ensure quality in your products and services, have integrity in your business dealings and conduct, and most importantly, work hard and take pride in your work.
