The National Food Safety Training Program, approved by the NL Department of Health and Community Services, is a must for the food safety conscious restaurant operator! FOOD SAFETY TRAINING: A SMART BUSINESS DECISION The annual occurrence of food borne illness, sometimes called food “poisoning” in Canada is staggering! It is estimated by Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada that 11-13 million Canadians fall ill every year after consuming tainted food. Most of these illnesses could have been easily prevented and are caused by poor food handling practices such as time-temperature abuse, cross contamination and poor personal hygiene.
