HAUTE-GOAT

In 2007 Shain and I bought a rambly old Ontario farmhouse, looking for our own little piece of heaven. We found it in Campbellford, Ontario. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we brought home 4 Nigerian dwarf goats. Shain wasn't sure why we needed goats - until he spent about 5 minutes with them and promptly fell in love. These are the tiniest of the goat breeds, yet they have the highest butterfat content. And so anything you make with it - from cheese, to lotion and soaps, are incredibly smooth and rich. The health benefits are myriad. And in spite of how opinionated they are, they are impossibly cute. We had thought of starting a dairy and cheese processing plant at our farm. But when we investigated, the cost was going to be astronomical. So instead we chose another way to celebrate our goats. We are now working with artisan foodies to create unique, interesting and delicious edibles to bring to market. Going forward, we hope to have all kinds of goat-related treats, edible and otherwise. And so explains the birth of Haute Goat!
