Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club

The Trojans were founded in 1967, and have grown over the years to become the leading competitive and most decorated swim team in Atlantic Canada. Past swimmers such as Nancy Garapick (world record holder and double bronze medalist at the 1976 Olympic Games), and Susan Mason (Senior National Team Member), as well as, current members David Sharpe (2012 Canadian Olympic Team) and Olivia Feschuk (2011 Canadian Youth National Team) have helped to put the ‘Trojan’ name on the Canadian competitive swimming map. The Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club is a ‘Not-for-Profit’ organization run by a professionally hired staff and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, including past and present Trojan parents and swimmers. The club is a very stable organization that has grown and developed, due in large part to the hard work and dedication of the member parents and volunteers. Last year, the Trojans won all four regional championship meets – the short course Team Championship, long course Provincials, and the short course and long course East Coast Championships – giving them the BEST OVERALL TEAM standing in Nova Scotia, and all of Atlantic Canada. There were 26 new Nova Scotia Provincial Records set by Trojans this past season, as well as 39 new Club Records. The Trojans had 18 swimmers attending the 2012 Canadian Olympic Trials in Montreal, and 23 swimmers attending the Canadian Age Group Nationals in Calgary of which 9 swimmers finished in the top 10. We expect to see many more great performances this season from the club’s swimmers, and look to break a few more records in the process! HTAC prides itself on providing a swimming program where every athlete has the opportunity to excel to their desired level of performance. HTAC promotes the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) strategy outlined by Sporting Canada and Swim Nova Scotia. The club works towards the goal of being a model competitive club to the Atlantic region and across Canada.
