Halifax Drum Festival

2014 dates are November 13th-15th in Halifax at Alderney Theatre and September 13th in Truro at the Embrace Truro Diversity Festival so plan now to come on out and see us! Under the direction of Chris Kennedy Halifax Drum Festival is now heading into year 4 and will continue to showcase a variety of some of the most well known, diverse and most talented percussive based performers available. In just 3 short years Halifax Drum Festival has experienced significant success and continued growth with the inclusion of a stunning mix of well-known and award-winning talent including: Mark Currie, Mark Adam & The Acadia Percussion Ensemble, Compania Azul, Ken Shorley, Daniel MacNeil, Eric McIntyre, Eastern Eagle, Keith Mullins, Chuck Bucket and The Junkbeats, Nicole Jordan and Alchemy, Samba Nova, Peter Rabbit, Jay (Sticks) Andrews, Leslie Carvery, Squid, Zulkamoon, Chak Carlitos, Intombi Zomqangala and Arirang sa-mul-no-ri. We’ve moved onto the International Stage, tripled our audience, and implemented our school programming; which in 2013 allowed the participation of 9 schools and over 500 students! Halifax Drum Festival 2014 will continue to give local percussive based artists a chance to present their work, promote performers within our community, showcase a number of international acts and continue to provide educational opportunities through drumming workshops and school performances. We will continue to embrace the diverse traditions from many countries and through a fusion of modern and traditional percussive styles provide a truly eclectic experience that is all rhythm! All with the goal to continue to enhance the cultural landscape of HRM We’d like to invite you to join us!
