Grand Island BBQ

Restaurant/Cafe in Dunnville, ON · See Restaurant/Cafe throughout Ontario

Drive through the countryside and discover our unique establishment nestled on the Grand River. You'll find out why people drive miles for our fresh ground hamburgers (no additives), Schneider's "really long dogs" and delicious bacon burgers. Find a table to suit the mood of the mid summer's eve, whether on the porch or under a grand weeping willow, and get set to enjoy some of our tasty fried chicken, fresh potato fries and superb dairy treats - all offered at family prices. It all began... in the early part of the century when William Mackenzie Rowe, his wife and family of 7 boys and 2 girls farmed the lands of Lumber Island, on the Grand River. In the summer of 1953, William's son Jim was impressed by the large number of happy tourists that passed by the farm, and as proprietor of the family meat market in Dunnville, decided to open a small hamburger stand. Those hot-dogs and hamburgers must've been good. People came back for more, and the place grew and changed over the years from a farm to Grand Island Bar-B-Q, a featured attraction in Ontario Region for both American and Canadian Tourists. Today it is operated by Jim's son David, who faithfully upholds his father's tradition - "a family place for food and fun on the Grand."
