Granby's

Granby’s on 9th continues a proud heritage, a reputation for quality of product and service that began October, 1957, when Estevan’s First Fine Dining Room opened. George and Dorothy Symons were owners of the newly-developed property at the corner of 9th Street and 13th Avenue, and they demonstrated a true entrepreneurial Spirit when they added a dining room to the lower level of the already operational Bakery and Coffee Shop at the street level. Dorothy was an English War Bride, and brought with her to her new home a “touch of class” which is apparent yet today. The name Thieves’ Kitchen was that of Dorothy’s favorite dining spot in her homeland, so it was the perfect name for the new place. Dorothy was uncompromising in the way she prepared and presented the meals offered on the first menu. The charm and elegance developed a wide spread reputation and soon attracted folks from miles around. In 1965, The Thieves’ Kitchen obtained Estevan’s first Dining Liquor License, adding a new dimension to the Dining experience. With pride, such items as daquiries & caesars were added to the new page of the menu. A fine array of glassware was a signature of Thieves’ Kitchen, as was the perfectly folded linen napkin at each place setting. Over the years, the facility has been renovated a number of times, and the menu updated from time to time. In 1997, the family changed the name to Granby’s on 9th, thereby allowing for more contemporary décor and menu. But the original dedication to an excellent product and service remains as fixed as that opening day in 1957. ENJOY YOUR DINING EXPERIENCE AND GRANBY’S!!
