Dalhousie University's Local Government Program

Dalhousie University, through the College of Continuing Education, has been serving the professional development needs of local government administrators in Canada for more than fifty years. Our approach has been to work closely with key stakeholder groups, including professional associations, provincial departments responsible for municipal affairs as well as individual learners. This collaborative approach has placed Dalhousie University as one of the leading providers of local government training in Canada. Our online programs have facilitated a cross-county learning community that is not bound by time-differences and geography. In addition to a relevant professional development experience, it is a very cost effective way to learn. In addition to the current award winning program, NACLAA (National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration) we offer several introductory certificates; the Certificate in Local Government: Administration (CLGA), the Certificate in Local Government: Financial Administration (CLGFA), the Certificate in Local Government: Human Resource Administration (CLGHRA) and the newly introduced Certificate in Local Government Administration: Law and Ethics (CLGALE). We hope these new certificates will help to further address the needs of local government administrators across Canada. We also offer workshops on a variety of topics that currently affect local government.
