Carver Homes is a Lacombe based custom home builder serving Central Alberta. We have a unique approach to home building that stems from years of experience in the industry. Headed by business partners Matt Schultz and Chris Campbell, we bring a well-balanced level of expertise to each and every project. Carver Homes specializes in new custom home construction and we understand and appreciate that building a new home should be a fun and exciting process for all involved. Let us explain the Carver Homes approach step by step. Step One: Lot selection. Depending on our clients, they may come to us with their own property, or we may assist them with their property search. Carver Homes does not inventory lots; instead, we have created long standing relationships with our local developers, offering a wide selection of great properties to build on. Finding you a great neighborhood to build your new home is just as important as the home itself. Step Two: Design/Budget. Working with our sister company, Keystone Design and Drafting, we work together to create a unique custom home plan that suits your needs perfectly. From basic working blue-prints to full color 3D renders, we are able to ‘build’ your new home without putting shovel to dirt. While in-house, we can make revisions on the fly and expedite the design process. This critical step is also shadowed by preliminary budgeting. We take a look at the overall budget, allowances, and your own needs and wants within the project. Step 3: Pre-Planning. We feel this is easily the most important step in the process. Now that we have a lot selected, a home plan designed, and a budget in place, it is now time to analyze the details of the project…every detail. Detail selection can be a time consuming process, but vital to the success of the build. Taking each and every component into account, we assist you with material selections, room layout, space planning, paint, cabinetry and millwork, finishing details, electrical layout, lighting, windows, among others. By making these selections before we break ground, it eases the stress when construction starts, minimizes delays, and keeps or budget in check. Certainly, there will still be decisions to be made on the fly, but they should be minimal and relatively simple. As they say, ‘Failure to plan, is a plan to fail’. We realize how overwhelming the process can be and because we are not a volume driven company, we feel it is important to take the time to do it right. Step 4: Construction. Now for the fun part! By this point you should have a clear vision of your new home. Materials have been selected, final room layouts confirmed, and most other decisions are in place; it is time to start building. Both Matt and Chris are very hands on with the build process. Our goal is to be easily accessible at all times to accommodate any questions or concerns you may have. It is common to see at least one of us around the site during typical business hours. We have a great group of experienced and talented tradesman that we work closely with on all of our projects. We trust their expertise to get the job done correctly. A typical single family home is usually completed within 5-7 months. We will not sacrifice quality for speed. Our goal is to get it done right, no matter how long it takes. We strive for efficiency, not speed. Step 5: Move in. The day has arrived and it is time to move into your new home. We finalize the details, note any (seasonal) deficiencies, and give the home a good, thorough clean in preparation for your client walk-through. Our homes can be delivered turn-key, meaning we can arrange for landscaping services and even moving assistance if required. We develop a yearly maintenance schedule for you, and supply you with a trade list in case you need urgent assistance with something.
