Fondée en 2010 par Mme Louise Leduc, l'organisation de bienfaisance Bénin Enfants Sains fait suite à plusieurs années de travail sur le terrain. Les multiples déplacements en brousse ont permis de mieux identifier certains facteurs de risque pour la santé des enfants de 0 à 5 ans. Le manque d’hygiène, le sevrage précoce, la malnutrition sont autant de facteurs pouvant être contrôlés par une bonne éducation. Un dépistage précoce des problèmes de santé majeurs de ces enfants et leur orientation rapide vers les Centres de santé contribuent également à diminuer le taux de mortalité. Ces deux cibles majeures : promotion de la santé et prévention de la maladie (agir sur l’environnement, rendre autonome les femmes responsables de l’alimentation et du soin des enfants) sont devenus les points centraux du développement de cet organisme.
